Before Powering On

  1. Confirm the assigned computer number and matching equipment.
  2. Inspect the chassis, power cable, video cable, keyboard, mouse, and monitor.
  3. Connect cables carefully without forcing a connector.
  4. Stop for teacher inspection when directed.
  5. Power on and confirm POST, video, keyboard, mouse, and operating system.
  6. Record results and shut down correctly before disconnecting equipment.

Before Opening Equipment

  1. Shut down the operating system.
  2. Disconnect power and peripherals.
  3. Discharge remaining power.
  4. Follow the teacher’s ESD and component-handling instructions.
  5. Photograph and document the original layout.
  6. Label parts and keep screws with the assigned computer.
